Tips on planning a successful training course -
Whether you are planning a training course for 2 -150 it is important you find the perfect environment at the best possible price. Training courses can be held in Hotels, purpose built conference centres, serviced offices, community centres etc but the most important element is, it is comfortably furnished, meets your requirements with the minimum of external distractions for the delegates.
Training rooms can be booked by the hour, half day or full day and the room layout needs to be flexible to meet your needs, standard layouts include -
Theatre, Classroom, Boardroom, U Shaped, Cabaret, but should you require something else, the venue should be able to accommodate your requirements.
It is important the Training room has natural daylight, especially in the winter months and ideally with no external distractions, such as building or refurbishment work nearby. Purpose built training rooms are ideal and should include the following equipment -
Free 'host' internet access, video and projector, Flipchart and pad, notepad and pens as standard. Air conditioning is important in the summer and chilled drinking water at any time. Most venues can offer various sized training rooms, ensure the space is sufficient for the number of delegates attending.
The venue should provide detailed maps and directions and the Training room should be clearly signed and ideally your delegates should be greeted on arrival. If the delegates are travelling by road, ensure free car parking is included in the price.
If your training is specialised, such as IT/Computer training courses, make sure the venue has the equipment and the Wi Fi capability to meet your needs. Most venues can arrange additional equipment hire, such as laptops and audio visual equipment.
Breakdown areas for tea/coffee should be located close to the training room to save time and unnecessary disruption. It is always advisable to stick to an agreed timetable for breaks and lunch etc, this will ensure the venue is prepared and the food is hot and fresh.
When booking training space, ask your Agent for the best deals and seasonal offers available. Ensure you are aware of what is included in a 'day delegate rate'. Your Agent will negotiate the best possible deal for you and will include as many added benefits as possible in the price.
If you are planning a 'residential training course' ensure the venue is aware of your group's dinner requirements and if your group is large, discuss menu options to ensure everyone is catered for.
Most Agents and Training venues will be able to recommend specialist Trainers or Guest Speakers if required. This also applies to break out activities, team building may be part of the training course and your Agent will be able to give detailed options available and recommend Event companies that can offer suggestions to meet your requirements.
